"FOLIO is a nationally recognized literary journal, funded by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Literature at American University (AU) in Washington, DC. Since 1984, FOLIO has published original creative work by both new and established authors. The journal is wholly managed and produced by graduate students belonging to the AU MFA Creative Writing program.

Past issues have included work by Roxane Gay, Asaf Hanuka, Michael Reid Busk, Franny Choi, Billy Collins, Ivan Pinkava, Hettie Jones, William Stafford, Bruce Weigl, Yumi Sakugawa, and Ross Gay, as well as interviews with Michael Cunningham, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Baxter, Amy Bloom, Ann Beattie, Walter Kirn, Marie Howe, and Evie Shockley, to name a few. We look for well-crafted poetry, art, and prose that is bold, memorable, and that resonates with-- and often defiantly questions-- the zeitgeist of our times.

FOLIO encourages you to look at a recent issue of Folio to determine the compatibility of your work with our journal, available for purchase digitally through 0s&1s, and in print through Submittable. Manuscripts are read between August 21 and December 31. Get in touch with questions, comments, and pie recipes via email—we're always stoked to hear from you (but just you. Only you)."
